…best taste of the border in Tucson

One of the best things about living in the Southwest is the ability to get a good taco, no matter where you are, no matter what time of day. And, as any taco connoisseur knows, the closer to the Mexican border, the better the odds of getting that perfect, warm, soft little boat of deliciousness.

Which is not to say that South Tucson only offers great food. With the Tohono O’odham Reservation nearby to the southwest, this area is a mix of Native American and Mexican heritages that perks you up to the idea that yeah, there’s actually a lot more to Tucson than golf courses and cacti.

For cultural flair, cross the border to the West 'hood and check out the spectacular San Xavier del Bac Mission, nicknamed the White Dove of the Desert, which rises like a mirage after miles of flat, arid land in the heart of the San Xavier Indian Reservation.

Even if you don’t end up calling the South Tucson “home,” be sure to stop by Mi Nidito for chiles rellenos or by Michas for some seriously delicious Mexican food. It’s no-frills, but who needs décor when you have the perfect enchilada? If you’re on the way to the airport, there’s no excuse not to stop by.
