Workaholics beware: Oro Valley will make you rethink the way you spend your time.

This ‘hood didn’t earn status as one of “America’s Top-Rated Smaller Cities” by Grey House Publishing and “Ten Most Playful” by Nick Jr. family magazine for nothing.

James D. Kriegh Park offers an Olympic-sized swimming pool and sports fields. The Canada del Oro Riverfront Park has tennis and basketball courts, hiking and equestrian trails. Annual events include the Oro Valley Festival of the Arts, the Tucson Marathon and more. We’ll be honest: here, recreation is tough to resist.

Plus, while you’re biking the El Tour de Tucson or hiking Mt. Lemmon, you’ll notice that Oro Valley supports a thriving arts community. Live music and public art are a common occurrence, and the sculptures, murals and statues add to the playful, relaxed vibe.

With over ten high tech firms here, this "Upscale Tech Mecca" of SoAz (thanks, Arizona Daily Star) has an income about 50% higher than the national U.S. median, so expect real estate prices to rank accordingly.

But we think as long as you have time to get out and enjoy the town, it’s an investment worth making.
