...timing is everything

In the previous decades, when surrounding communities such as Rancho Penasquitos and Del Mar were growing and flourishing, little Torrey Highlands remained stubbornly undeveloped. Why? Turns out, the Highlands wanted to take their time and do it right.

Yes, there’s ongoing construction. But there’s also an approved community plan limiting the area to just over 2,600 new single homes, apartments and condos for middle-class-to-affluent residents. And there’s a 90,000-square foot village center filled with retail shops and restaurants.

These days, Torrey Highlands is looking like a forward-thinking kinda place, poised at the start of this century as a spanking-new, family-oriented community with plenty of outdoor activities, and even a new business center with space for medical, tech and other industries in shining glass rectangles. All this up for grabs in the hills just a few miles north of San Diego.

Who’d have believed Torrey Highlands would wind up being the little town that could? Sometimes, it’s worth it to wait.
