California perfected the suburban development, and Tierrasanta proves it. This early “master-planned community” sits Northeast of San Diego bordered by the Mission Trails Regional Park and steep canyons that drop away into the Mission Valley.

Founded in 1971, and meaning “Island in the Hills”, true Tierrasantians continue to show a fierce love for their natural surroundings. Proof of this affection can be found in numerous outdoor festivals, the maze of paths and greenways snaking through the canyons, and the SWAT-styled enforcement against signage in public spaces.

The success of masterly-planned Tierrasanta—or “T-Town” to the hipper T-Santians—is obvious, thanks to nationally-ranked Junipero High School, a healthy range of homes, condos and apartments, three shopping centers and a new research park.
