We all know that San Diego does a nice job of delivering a quaint, small-town feel to the typical urban neighborhood, and South Park lends a helpful hand in making that reputation a longstanding fact. Tidy Victorians, Colonial Revivals, Craftsman and Farm House-bungalows from the early 20th century mingle peacefully with newer townhomes and apartment houses.

Balancing the “cute” in this ‘hood is a generous collection of small businesses and a healthy, mixed-bag population of diversity in income, age, sexual orientation and race. Walk or bike to the park in no time (Balboa is just a few minutes’ away, to the northwest) and enjoy the open-air marketplace every Saturday at the Einstein Academy.
