A new exhibition by Southern California artist Robert Irwin (Long Beach-born) can be viewed at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego. Robert Irwin: Primaries and Secondaries features five new major installation works created specifically for the MCASD's galleries.

The exhibition takes up both of the downtown San Diego buildings. One building includes 16 works that survey Irwin's career since 1959. Beginning with his abstract paintings and concluding with a room-size installation.

Light and Space, pictured above, was made with 115 fluorescent lights spanning 6.9 x 15.7 meters. Check out the MCASD website here to see more images from the exhibition.

Robert Irwin: Primaries and Secondaries can be viewed through April 13, 2008
