…San Dieg-who?

Ramona is undeniably linked to San Diego. But unlike other small towns surrounding the giant urban neighbor, Ramona has tried its best to avoid becoming just another 'burb.

Once called the "Turkey Capital of the World," Ramona's affinity for fowl was followed by chicken egg production, after the turkey business declined. Ramona has now settled into a mix of resources such as wine and grapes, avocado and citrus trees and a few remaining chicken farms. The town has a focus on the colorful and independent history celebrating its Wild West past.

Ramona sits a few thousand feet up the Inland Mountains—it's said, "over the fog line and under the snow line." This setting offers great hiking and amazing views, along with some tantalizing golf courses and trails for the local horse-riding aficionados.

Though Ramona does have plans to incorporate into San Diego County soon, newcomers can still enjoy a more independent feel than other nearby towns. With middle class residents and reasonable home prices…life is sweet.
