…land of condos

In the southeast corner of Mid-City San Diego, along State Route 94, sits Oak Park. With kind of a “stepchild” reputation, this ‘hood is ripe for some revitalization.

Basically, the area consists of a series of condos centered around lovely Chollas Lake Park, which offers a jogging/walking loop, basketball court and also contains the Chollas Heights reservoir. Plans are in the works to develop the park to better service the area’s population of 132,466 and complement Balboa Park, with large sports fields, extra parking and local art showcases.

The Marketplace at the Grove shopping center draws a crowd, as it offers the majority of the area’s shopping and entertainment: about fifty stores, a multiplex theater and a bowling alley.

Sounds like Oak Park is about to get some much-needed attention.
