...semper fine

Made famous by the 1986 Tom Cruise blockbuster, Top Gun, Miramar was the cinematic (and genuine) site of the TOPGUN Navy Fighter Weapons School.

Due to a Base Realignment and Closure program in 1995, Naval Air Station Miramar and the TOPGUN school no longer reside here, but a growing number of savvy San Diegans do. Aviation buffs can still enjoy the Mach-5 flavor of the glory days at the Miramar Airshow, held every October, when the Blue Angels make their annual appearance to thrill the crowds.

Miramar is conveniently located right in the middle of San Diego County, so it’s close to everything SD has to offer. The former Naval Air Station is now a busy Marine Corps Air Station base, and most residents live on the base. The area has become a booming light industrial area, with shops, furniture and design stores, restaurants and service facilities catering to the needs of the Marines and their families.

This area is also home to a thriving business park, serving the many businesses that relocate here because of easy access to the freeways.

Large San Diego Apartments Must Offer Recycling

San Diego is making major headway with the new recycling ordinance. Starting this week, all apartments and condos with 100 units or more, single-family homes served by private recycling companies, commercial buildings with more than 20,000 square feet and events that require a permit from the city must provide recycling for plastic and glass bottles and jars, paper, newspapers, metal containers and cardboard.
