…a gleaming historic and cultural community

On the southeast side of the nation’s largest urban cultural park (that’s Balboa Park), one of San Diego’s oldest neighborhoods offers dynamite views of downtown and San Diego bay. Quaint Victorian, Colonial Revival, Craftsman and Farmhouse bungalows make for pretty backdrops, and newer town homes and apartment houses have provided an influx of artists and movers who are “in the know” about places to live.

The historical setting and proximity to downtown make for an eclectic mix of things to do and places to go, including independent restaurants, ethnic markets, home-grown galleries and antique stores. Even if you don’t call this area home, take a trip to the Turf Supper Club, one of San Diego’s most unique vintage restaurants.
