…out with the old (warehouses), in with the new (lofts)

To the east of downtown, the aptly-named East Village is widely regarded as a triumph of redevelopment due to its quick transformation from an area of run-down warehouses to an up-and-coming urban community. Boasting luxury hotels and high-end residential buildings, the new Padres’ Stadium jumpstarted this booming area in 2004.

Hip guys and gals flock to this area for the myriad of shops, galleries and artists’ studios, while schools, a central police station, commercial services and industry also do their part to balance the residential land use. This is the place to be for urban living near the bay.
