…not a beach for bums

Best known for the historic Hotel del Coronado, the town’s quaint, narrow streets are lined with small boutiques and cozy houses. This small upscale island is a great getaway for tourists and San Diego residents.

Hardbody alert: half of Coronado’s 7.4 square miles are shared with the elite Navy SEALS training base. The other half somehow manages to include three destination resorts, many hotels, two 18-hole golf courses and a beach rated second best in the country by the Travel Channel.

Coronado has managed to retain its laid-back beach vibe, although a short trip over the San Diego-Coronado Bay Bridge takes you right to the heart of downtown SD. Not a bad series of positives.
