I like La Mesa despite the “suburb” stereotype it tends to acquire. So it might have some strong characteristics of a suburb but when you stumble across restaurants like Johnny B’s (on 4th) you can be thankful for the jewels.
I like Johnny B’s – they serve up delicious all-American burgers, fries and beers (15 on tap folks). When you come be prepared for a wait – when the food is this good it takes time. Enjoy a beer instead and some company with friends. Don’t forget the cash because they don’t take cards (which may seem odd in today’s world, but what are ya gonna do?).
