Able was I ere I saw Elba. That’s a palindrome. You know, like, ‘Name no one man’. Yeah? No? Try…goog. That word may or may not be a word. It may or may not mean egg in Australia.
The point is it sounds the same both forwards and backwards…just like the 25th Street overpass bridge connecting the Golden Hill and Sherman Heights neighborhoods. Built into the bridge railing is a carillon – a set of chromatic bells that ring when struck. If you drag a metal stick across the railing, you will hear a tune that is the same both forwards and backwards. Go crazy, just don’t make yourself sick.
The musical bridge was designed by artist Roman de Salvo and the tune, composed by Joseph Waters, is called ‘Crab Carillon’.
Goog thinking guys!
P.S. speaking of musical palindromes, Andrew Bird has a song called ‘Fake Palindromes’ which if you give it one listen you will immediately become a fan.
