Fun-in-the-sun takes on new meaning. In cheery Sun City (yep, this is really the name) fun isn't necessarily soaking up the rays in a two-piece, slathered in SPF 50. Here, it translates to golfing, shopping and loads of free time.

Sun City is another master-planned community by Arizona contractor Del Webb in the warm, dry Menifee Valley. Established in the 1960s for active retirees, the town now welcomes a small community of younger people, and even has a number of schools for kids of all ages.

Go ahead—relax, join a club or organization (there are more than you can imagine), attend any one of 40 churches or a synagogue. Medical facilities and other services are all within reach, too.

One of the best things about Sun City, though, is the variety of housing. Condos, single-family or mobile homes, and apartment complexes allow potential residents to find exactly what they’re looking for.
