Palm Desert

…home to snowbirds and freebirds

Palm Desert, a city more than 120 miles from Los Angeles, is an unlikely spot for hip hotspots and rock n’ roll legends. Yet one quick spin down El Paseo shows that this is not your typical desert town.

Named one of the top seven rock n’ roll cities in America by Blender magazine, Palm Desert is a retreat for “snowbirds,” and its population jumps from approx. 30,000 in the summer, to more than twice that in the winter, when chilly residents of northern climes trek down for a glimpse of the town’s ornamented palm trees. It’s no surprise why, either—events like the Art of Food & Wine Palm Desert, shopping on the “Miracle Mile,” and the always-compelling Palm Desert music scene keep people flocking to this flat, almost remote cultural mecca that reflects a true, SoCal spirit.
