...214

Whatever amenities Apache Junction offers must always take a back seat to the number 214, which represents the number of totally cloudless days a year here.

Okay, now that we’ve gotten that remarkable piece of information off our chests, we can move onto more practical matters.

Situated at U.S. Highway 60 and the Apache Trail, Apache Junction is as far east as you can get without leaving the Phoenix metro area. Beyond it lie the Tonto National Forest and the legendary Superstition Mountains, which aren’t as freaky as they sound. This natural area is actually pretty quaint, with hiking, recreational area, water sports, camping and other activities to keep you occupied and out of trouble.

Housing is mostly owned, single-family or mobile homes and it’s definitely affordable.

If you’re a golfer, Apache Junction is a perfect place, since it offers two Jack Nicklaus-designed golf courses and often hosts big events like the LPGA Tournament. Artists love the area; too, as they can gaze out to the mountains to get inspired.

And don’t forget all that sunshine…
