…an old town with tall tales

What's in a name? Olive. Lemon. Orange. Legend has it this area was named during a poker game. Guess the best fruit won.

We don’t know if it's actually true, but it does demonstrate the residents' distinct interest in the area's history. Whereas many cities in the county destroyed old structures in the 1960s, Orange preserved them—some homes in the Old Town District were built before 1920.

The community created a walkable one-square-mile Historic District around the original city plaza. Now all roads lead to the center of downtown. A hoppin’ commercial district, it even contains the oldest operating soda fountain in the county—a great Saturday afternoon or weeknight activity.

You'll also find parks, lakes, the nearby Orange County Zoo and even a wildlife sanctuary. The Block at Orange is one of the region’s busiest centers for shopping and entertainment. Check out new developments and renovated homes—this neighborhood is continuously expanding eastward.

That's what's in a name…Orange you glad you asked? (Sorry, we couldn’t resist.)
