…the unofficial capital of capitals

With a motto like “The City of Youth and Ambition,” it’s no wonder Garden Grove is constantly claiming itself to be the capital of…lots of things. Chili peppers, poultry, eggs and strawberries are on the list to date, and who knows what else will be added?

Yet for all its posturing, Garden Grove does offer plenty to back up its claims.

For example, the Strawberry Festival is the largest Memorial Day celebration in the western U.S. The famous Crystal Cathedral, which produces the televised “Hour of Power,” is located here. (There must be something in the air, as Garden Grove has the largest number of churches and places of worship per person in the state.) Their schools are amazing and safe—some of the best in the county. And, the city is dedicated to volunteerism. So it really is an impressive little community.

We can only guess what’s next…capital of good education?

One of the greatest mistakes many Orange County residents make, is not taking advantage of the rich cultural experiences that are available within a few minutes drive. Despite the portrayal of the O.C. on television as the land of gate-guarded communities and wealthy soccer mom’s, Orange County remains a diverse, cultural melting pot.
