…What's in a name?

It’s pretty obvious why this neighborhood, incorporated in 1957, changed its name—it used to be called Gospel Swamp. Though that was kind of, er, memorable, Fountain Valley is much more evocative of the pleasant bedroom community it is today.

And, as to the rumor that if you poke a stick in the ground, a fountain will come up (something about the low elevation and the high water table) - we’re not making any promises.

Formerly home to nomadic preachers and grazing cattle, this area is now a middle-class, residential area with an impressive, 640-acre Mile Square Regional Park. Here you'll find a couple of lakes and everything any outdoor-type could hope for—two 18-hole golf courses, playing fields, a huge rec center, and picnic areas, too. Plus, sports fans, some of the country's top triathletes train at the nearby Los Caballeros Racquet and Sports Club.

Now, aren’t you glad they changed the name? Who wants to go home to a swamp?
