…a hub of culture and commerce

One of the most notable of notable locations in Orange County, Costa Mesa is home to the famous South Coast Plaza, an upscale shopping mall (with over 300 stores) that rings in just about the highest sales per square foot in the state and the most sales of any mall in the U.S.

To balance this savvy, west-coast Sex in the City-type vibe, counterculturists can visit The Lab, which—while it’s still a retail center—actively generates a more community-driven, cutting-edge, anti-mainstream feel.

Of course, Costa Mesa isn’t just commercial development. In a small 16-square miles, the neighborhood has nine parks, 26 public schools, multiple universities and a municipal golf course. Not to mention being the heart of Orange County’s performing arts district.

It’s not a beach town, but it’s pretty darn close and it’s definitely more affordable. Who can complain with neighbors like Newport and Huntington?
