Walkin' for a livin' in Greeley

I have two doctors, my left leg and my right.
- G. M. Trevelyan

And by doctors, he must be referring to shrinks. A good walk can set your mind at ease, or get you started on a new path. A walk can put everything in perspective, as well as out. A good walk is the best medicine.

Now you just have to find the perfect spot. The Greeley Tribune put together a list of great walking places, with routes, distances, and most importantly, the appeal.

Walk the UNC Campus for historic buildings, Milavic Lake for bird watching, or Josephine Jones Park for a little ‘me’ time.

The Tribune also lists YOUR Neighborhood as a great walking spot too. They aptly note that you don't have to drive anywhere, you know the local wildlife and scheduling is easy. I also like to think that by walking your neighborhood, you better know your neighborhood, and therefore can take more pride in your ‘hood.

Check out the comments associated with the article too – some good points are brought up. Someone asks why Island Grove Park was not included in the list, and others answered it is because of the drug and gang influence in the area. Perhaps the city of Greeley should challenge citizens to walk, not just to loose weight, but to keep their communities safe too.

Walking in ‘bad’ areas to keep it safe may seem absurd. But really, areas that fall to neglect are the areas where misconduct rises.

Also, check out GreeleyGov.com for a map of all parks where other great walking paths can be found.
