Holly Anne Mitchell is a jewelry designer working in a medium that the rest of us are recycling (hopefully!) after we're finished with it - the newspaper. And not in a big, nasty, inkstains on the hands kind of way, either.
She crafts her delicate little creations by using newspaper pieces and rolling them into firm little tubes. She then frames some of them at either end with beads and connects them to other little tubes. Sometimes they're a little bigger, sometimes they're tiny. Even better, sometimes they're the funnies, sometimes they're the business headlines or even expired coupons and sometimes they're a sudoku puzzle. How nifty is that?
I didn't ask her about custom work, but if you wanted The Coloradoan to be in your jewelry design, maybe she would do it for the right price. And her prices are reasonable to begin with. The best part is that, even if you're wearing The Wall Street Journal, you're wearing something very unique.
Visit her website at www.newspaperjewelry.com - very cool.
