Change neighborhood to:
…a poetic hood
Longfellow is named for poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, and the ‘hood’s influence on his poetry (Hiawatha, Minnehaha…sound familiar?) not only earned him the town's name, but also a museum, The Longfellow House. Yet most equate Longfellow with its largest and most aesthetically pleasing attraction, Minnehaha Falls—the 53-foot waterfall—made famous by Longfellow's poem, "The Song of Hiawatha"
Most of Longfellow is residential, comprised of bungalow and ready-to-assemble homes filled with a diverse middle-class population. Minnehaha Avenue is mixed-use, including both homes and commercial enterprises.
The surrounding Minnehaha Park rents three- and four-wheel bikes, and once you work up an appetite, you can stop at Sea Salt for some great seafood. There are several other parks in Longfellow; in fact, one-third of the community’s area is open land.
The community also includes smaller ‘hoods: Hiawatha, Cooper, Howe, and Seward. It sits along the Minneapolis light-rail transit route, which, by the way, connects the area to everything a resident could ever want—work in downtown Minneapolis, a direct line to the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, and, of course, retail therapy at the sprawling Mall of America. It's enough to bring out your inner poet.
