Inver Grove Heights…the name conjures up an old 1940s black-and-white flick with a cast of characters who always seem happy and carefree. <sigh>

This quaint-sounding 'burb has seen its share of diverse population booms from the mid 1880s to late 1990s. Now, about 30,000 people call this countrified expanse home. Though you'll find all kinds of housing, from large estates to apartments, there's still plenty of hilly, wide-open spaces. The Mississippi River Valley provides a gorgeous backdrop for the area's 28 parks, and if you like your fun a little less wild, the city has two golf courses and a water park.

Cahill Corridor (the main street) is lined with businesses, and is where an awesome "Holiday on Main Street" is celebrated with all the bells and whistles…and Santa, of course. More retail can be found at the Mall of America, about 12 miles away. Eateries are all over—grab a pizza or KFC…or meet friends at Applebee's for a burger and brew. 

Looking for a little more excitement…nightlife…indie restaurant? Not to worry—the buzz of downtown St. Paul is a mere 9 miles away.
