There are more people in Golden Valley during the day than in the evening. That’s probably because the GV is home to the Big G, as in General Mills, the likely maker of your morning cereal.

There are other employers here too, like Honeywell International and the local NBC affiliate. But, never fear, people do live in this 'hood, and though many of them are part of the early-bird-special set, there's a fair amount of (successful) singles, too. A lot of them work from home, so your neighbor might just have that printer paper you desperately need.

You'll find plenty of rec opps in Golden Valley, including biking, boating, hiking, skiing and swimming. Also, there’s a municipal golf course, and 10 outdoor ice rinks (Hello? It's Minneapolis!). In the summer are concerts in the park, where residents bring lawn chairs, blankets and picnic snacks for tunes under the stars.

If you're more the retail type, and don't feel the need to go downtown, there's a mix of upscale boutiques and chain stores in well-appointed shopping centers along with the standard places for all the basics. And if the grocery is out of cereal, just hit up the folks at General Mills.
