Set among rolling hills with terrific views of the bluffs is the city of Eagan, everything a ‘burb should be. There are top-notch schools, great apartments for rent and homes, beautiful scenery (54 parks) and tons of community activities.

When you're here, you'll notice no one sits down in Eagan—every season is filled with things to do. Locals play sports at the community arts center, ice skate on the frozen-over lakes (there are about 200 of 'em) and participate in running events (residents are seriously into hitting the pavement – the Ground Pounders Grand Prix Running Series is an annual running spree).

And Eagan has no shortage of festivals. October brings the Halloween Hodgepodge, with crafting, game-playing, dancing and trick-or-treating. Santa visits the community center in December, and January brings the TREC – a grown-up scavenger hunt across several parks. Exhausted yet?

Also in January is the ‘hood’s annual indoor community garage sale. In spring, there’s the Antique Assessment Show, a local version of that public-television hit “Antiques Roadshow.” Who knows? Maybe grandpa’s old clock is actually worth something.
