…so much more than the Mighty Ducks

Yes, okay, so this is the place where they filmed parts of The Mighty Ducks. But does Coon Rapids have to forever be remembered for just that? We’re here to round out your knowledge about this sizable 'burb, just 15 miles north of downtown Minneapolis. 

There are great parks that include the 440-acre Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park, where residents boat, fish, cross-country ski, or simply relax with free concerts in the summer. (They even "raise" the Mississippi River for swimming!) An expanding trail system allows residents to explore the gorgeous (and we mean it) riverside. 

With a population of more than 60,000 residents, this 'hood offers a ton of amenities and services, like a community theater, shopping, eateries and some night life. Coon Rapids apartments are plentiful, as are splits, ranches and 2-story homes with a 70's feel.  

So yes, Cook Ice Arena is where Emilio Estevez helped bring the District 5 peewee hockey team to victory… that’s worth a visit, too.
