Apple
Valley is proud of what it’s got going on. In fact, Money magazine agreed in 2007, naming it the 28th best place to live in the U.S.

This quiet 'burb had its biggest building boom in the 1980s and 90s, so expect a lot of two-story houses in shades of tan. Also expect lots of family-friendly amenities like good schools, an 18-hole championship golf course and of course, parks—would you believe there are 49 parks in this 17.3-square-mile city? That’s a lotta green.

There’s plenty of shopping and fun to be had in the downtown area (which includes some Apple Valley apartments), and the sprawling Mall of America is only 5 minutes away.

Of course, the biggest deal here is the Minnesota Zoo. This nationally-known zoological garden gets over a million visitors a year. The animals are cool, but the zoo isn’t all fish tanks and monkey houses. It’s got an IMAX theater and an outdoor amphitheater that runs a killer concert schedule every summer. Not to be missed.
