Canoga Park…a ways away, but close enough


In the western part of the San Fernando Valley, a little ’hood called Canoga Park offers condos, townhouses and single-family homes that are a little more affordable, a little bit cute and only a little bit outside of LA. With a good mix of commercial and residential buildings, Canoga Park has enjoyed a recent influx of film production studios and aerospace companies that provide employment for residents.

Shop at the Topango Plaza or on Sherman Way, dine at any number of the restaurants that are popping up and check out live theatre at the West Valley Playhouse or the Madrid. If antiquing is your thing, stroll down Sherman and check out gallery after gallery after gallery. And of course, the Valley itself is an unending playground. Climb a few hills, drive out to the beach, have a picnic—and when you feel like braving a little traffic head over the hills and into the city.
