…as colorful as a sunset on the beach

Inspired and originally built to resemble Venice, Italy, with meandering streets and canals, this funky, historic town is still eclectic, entertaining and active. Being here is to be in one of LA’s most unique and desirable neighborhoods.

In the 1950s, coffeehouses and poetry readings attracted the best of the Beat Generation. Its studios continued to bring an influx of artists until the 1970s when it became a little too expensive to stay. The area retains its dynamic past and counter-culture roots, offering a wealth of unique shops, cool restaurants and independent galleries.

Just south of Santa Monica and north of Marina del Rey, Venice is also one of the only neighborhoods in LA that’s pedestrian-friendly. Check out the wildly famous Ocean Front Walk (the boardwalk) and footpaths leading to its post-Victorian homes throughout.

Be warned—the small streets cause some traffic congestion—especially since the nearest highway is about two miles away. But we guarantee there’s plenty here to make up for that minor inconvenience.
