This is where the famous Strand begins, so tie on your blades, hop on your board or bike, and get to know the southernmost beach community in the greater LA area.

Like sister cities Hermosa and Manhattan Beach, the Pacific shore is the focus in Redondo Beach. The King Harbor Marina complex has tons of bars, restaurants and activities (anglers can even catch a fish or two). At the end of the day, head inland a few hundred feet and you’re in a quaint seaside neighborhood.

Don’t worry if “tan” or “athletic” aren’t exactly words you’d use to describe yourself. Spend enough time in this area, where 300 continuous days of sunshine per year ensure that beach volleyball and surfing are major pastimes, and you’ll soon be bronzed and beach-ready.
