…for a life sweeter than shortcake

Calm, clean and oh-so-pastoral, Oxnard has the largest population in California’s Ventura County—yet somehow, even with its 200,000 citizens, the city doesn’t seem overcrowded. Maybe it’s the agricultural roots, or the long stretches of beach, or the variety of landscapes including dunes, fields, harborside and suburban settings; in Oxnard you can really feel at home and relaxed.

If it’s excitement you’re looking for, though, don’t worry; there’s no lack of activity here. Stop by the ports on any given day and you’ll see the bustle of commercial trade (cars, bananas, pineapples—you name it) as well as our nation’s proud Navy at Port Hueneme and Point Mugu.

Experience arts and culture at the Carnegie Art Museum, the Performing Arts and Convention Center, or in the historical Heritage District, just to name a few places. Plus, traveling by train, bus or air is a breeze, as Oxnard is one of SoCal’s major hubs.

And, sweetest of all? Oxnard produces more strawberries than any other city in the state. This allows us to forgive them for producing so many lima beans.
