Excelsior High School in Norwalk is one of the most familiar-looking schools in America, thanks to the movies Grease and Grease 2, which were filmed there.

The surrounding towns outside this community are pretty pricey, so through the years this ethnically-diverse 'hood, with its more down-to-earth lifestyle and affordable housing (including Norwalk apartments) has welcomed an increase of Latino and Asian residents.

Another claim-to-fame is Norwalk's dead-on location. You can get everywhere from here by any of four freeways, rail and bus lines, which makes getting to the job easy whether you work in Los Angeles or Orange County. For great escapes LAX is close. For great fun, major league sports and Disneyland are near.

So Grease isn't the word that describes Norwalk. Actually, it's "convenience."
