When I think of Bel-Air and Hollywood, I think of the rich and famous usually, but despite all their fame and fortune, not to mention sprawling freeways and bumper to bumper traffic, these areas of Los Angeles are actually quite close to beautiful canyons, secluded trails and recreation-filled wilderness.

Dutton's Brentwood Books, one of LA's great independent bookstores, is closing it's doors after 23 years of business. Dutton's location is to be redeveloped. It is unsure whether Dutton will open a new store, unfortunately, the competitive pressures of big box stores have resulted in, as Dutton puts it, 'a sober assessment of the realities of the book world.'
