…a quieter, more upscale Venice Beach

Marina del Rey (meaning “Navy of the King”) is an unincorporated seaside community located between LAX and Santa Monica, not far from Venice Beach. Boasting the largest man-made small boat harbor in the world, it’s not surprising to find ocean-themed specialty shops and the cute but unabashedly touristy Fisherman’s Village.

However, Marina del Rey isn’t all chowder and seashells. The ocean views are breathtaking, the neighborhood offers a wide variety of activities (especially those that have anything to do with boating) and it’s teeming with restaurants both moderate and pricey.

Speaking of pricey… newer, high-rise buildings provide most available housing, but you’ll also find a few gorgeous oceanfront properties and some single-family homes near the area’s perimeter.
