Downey, CA Apartments for Rent

Downey is all about making life easier. In fact, part of America’s convenience craze originated here. This ’hood is
home to the nation’s oldest standing McDonald’s restaurant (the third ever built) as well as the first Taco Bell.

But it’s more than fast food that keeps Downey residents happy. This community is nestled among four major
freeways (the 105, 5, 605 and 710) to make getting to the nearby O.C. or the beach a snap.

On Saturday mornings, locals stroll through the weekly farmer’s market, on Second Street at New Avenue, in search of
just-picked produce, locally grown eggs and hand-crafted cheeses. If culture is your thing, look no further than the
750-seat Downey Theater, with productions by the Downey Civic Light Opera, Symphonic Society and the annual celebrity concert series.

After grabbing some nosh at the market, residents can enjoy any of the area’s 11 city-run parks, some of which feature fishing, tennis and fitness complexes. If golf is more your speed, there are two local courses, one of which, the Los Amigos Golf Course, is run by L.A. county.
