…sweet and swank

In this “Tree City, U.S.A.,” clusters of mountains and hills offer 360-degree views of the San Fernando Valley, its canyons or city lights. Creeks run through wooded areas and ridgelines run as far as the eye can see. This is the kind of suburb that makes you stop, stare and sigh.

The city’s uber-progressive agenda, its nickname as the "101 Technology Corridor" (first earned during the dot-com bubble of the 90s), the 35-minute commute from downtown LA, world-class, open-air, European style shopping and that “Tree City” designation have gone a long way in attracting the 23,000+ residents.

Calabasas can feel rural, but don’t let its small-town atmosphere fool you: homes in its numerous gated communities and tightly-knit neighborhoods range in the mid- to upper- six figures and on into the millions. So, to live here, you’ve either got to know someone, or you need to be making decent green.

Either way, check it out next time you’re headed west on the 101. Farmers’ markets, gardens and spectacular views just add to the experience.
