…the name says it all

Across from the University of Denver, this neighborhood hosts a large population of college students—but you won't find raucous bars, nightly teepeeing or guys in their boxers rolling kegs down the midnight streets. Instead, the DU campus provides the area with 19th-century Denver landmarks and a well-respected law school and business school (okay, and the occasional beer bong in the street). The Wellshire neighborhood rests on the shoulders of the public golf course at Colorado and Hampden, on the grounds of the Wellshire Inn - it's a little more staid and residential as you move further from the frat houses, naturally.

Many of the small properties that were built in the '30s, '40s and '50s are now being pop-topped or demolished for custom-built homes, so the area is changing a bit. However, you can always count on people lounging or playing ball in Observatory Park, where curious stargazers can watch the sky on Open House nights.
