San Lorenzo Ristorante in Greenwood Village is the creation of owner/chef Craig D’Alessandro, and he’s created a little jewel. And while it's tucked away in the corner of a strip mall at Orchard and University, it's worth looking for.
The menu is seasonal features of old and new favorites. And the presentation is luscious – if you and your guests order salads and appetizers, they can bring them arranged on large beautiful serving plates, so that everyone gets a taste of everything. That’s the most fun and as long as everyone behaves, it works out perfectly.
We had the fried scamorza and grilled radicchio appetizer, a couple of small salads and hummed along so happily. The bronzini, a whole Mediterranean sea bass, on a bed of savories like olives and capers and onions, was amazing. (They took the head away for us – I don’t enjoy unblinking scrutiny from the entrée!) Some risotto with that and we couldn’t have been more satisfied. It’s well worth a visit – you’ll be amazed.
