...hilly and upscale with a healthy heritage

Montclair was founded in the early 19th century by Baron Walter von Richthofen, uncle of the famed WWI flying ace "Red Baron" (a little ancient history, here). Richthofen's majestic 35-room home was indeed his castle and the show home of the area. It still is.

At 330-feet above Denver, Montclair is a great neighborhood with spectacular views of the mountains punctuated by a sophisticated mix of architecture. Baron Walter, himself no slouch, was also a novelist and a founding member of the Chamber of Commerce. The neighborhood was originally conceived, built and promoted to cater to the elite, and it’s still pretty upscale.

The neighborhood park is a small, quaint turn-of-the-century space landscaped in the English tradition, with tennis and horseshoe courts and a community center.

At about a 5-minute drive from downtown, Montclair residents appreciate the wide variety of shopping, eating, art gazing, entertainment, parks and ponds spread at their feet. The Baron would have approved.
