The NCAA games at the Pepsi Center yesterday were good ones:
Michigan State eliminated Temple, 72 - 61
Pittsburgh took on Oral Roberts, 81 - 63
Washington State crushed Wintrop, 71 - 40 and
Notre Dame beat George Mason, 68 - 50!
As an ND alum living in Denver, I was stoked to score tickets to the two evening games and watch the Irish beat George Mason. I had never seen a NCAA tournament game, so I was really excited that Denver is a host this year, especially because the Irish were in town. Though the games yesterday were pretty solid wins (there were no Duke/Belmont nailbiters at the Pepsi Center), it was still an exciting event to be part of in Denver.
Sidenote: at the end of the Washington State/Winthrop blow out a large crowd gathered in the hallways of the Pepsi Center to watch the final minutes of the Duke/Belmont battle. There were certainly a divided crowd - half cheering loudly for Duke and the other half cheering loudly for Duke to go down. I think the cheers in the halls were louder than the cheers in the stadium.
Next up on Saturday:
Notre Dame vs. Washington State
Michigan State vs. Pittsburgh
Go Irish!
