From ritz to bricks

So my family and I just moved from Cherry Creek North over to the Cheesman Park neighborhood, and I've got to say that the differences are pretty astonishing, especially considered that we're only about 2 miles away from our old house. Our oh-so-1980's townhouse has been traded in for an oh-so-turn-of-the-century three level brick bunker, and honestly I couldn't be happier. I feel like this neighborhood actually has a hearty soul to it, which really isn't something I've experienced since my fam lived over by Lakeside Amusement Park when I was a kid (of course, the soul of that neighborhood was a bit more frightening than the soul I'm experiencing now, but that's beside the point).

It's so nice to be surrounded by houses that have their own history (that is, a history that dates back farther than the Clinton administration), and I'm really liking the fact that most of the women around here don't wear $900 sunglasses that are roughly 40x the size of their eyes (a lot of the men around here seem to be wearing those… but that's probably a whole other story unto itself). The kids around here seem like normal kids too – I always got the impression that the kids in Cherry Creek started developing their stock portfolios during the second trimester.

I don't mean to knock Cherry Creek North at all here; truthfully, I had some great times while I was there, it's just that certain neighborhoods vibe with certain types of people, and I guess the vibe I naturally send out just doesn't sync well with the general gyrations of the Cherry Creek community. These things happen, ladies and gentleman. Circle of life.
