Of course this idea could only have been created while Heather English was floating down the Boulder Creek on an inner tube. She wanted a handbag that reflected her “hardcore” vegetarian lifestyle and absolutely not made from leather. Not finding what she was looking for, Heather strolled in to her local hardware store and gathered the materials necessary to create her ideal bag. With the help of friends, family and of course the occasional trade show, Heather’s bags took off.
Today English Retreads receive used inner tubes from truck stops in the Boulder area. It’s estimated that each tube has more than 60,000 miles on it before getting reinvented at English Retreads. The company was founded on socially and environmentally conscious ideals which mean they only use cruelty-free and vegan recycled materials.
English Retreads is doing its part to keep more waste out of the landfill by creating one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted accessories that make a fashion statement with very little impact on the environment.
