DNC 2008 - Celebrity Watch

Posted by Sarah on 8/25/2008 2:00:58 PM in LoDo, politics, culture

I wanted to take a quick moment to update you on “DNC 2008: Celebrity Watch.”  My friend at work, Rhona, and I are conducting this "watch" on our lunch breaks this week. The mission is to spot celebrities in town for the DNC. Even though it was only the first day of the convention, we kind of hit the jackpot.

We had walked nearly the entire stretch of 16th Street and were getting kind of desperate because all we saw were non-celebrity delegates and other tourists. Finally we saw a bit of a crowd forming at 16th and Lawrence. Clearly someone famous was down there. Although the crowd was getting bigger, we decided to go in for a closer look. The crowd consisted of business people on their lunch breaks taking photos and trying to get close enough to say hi.

The crowd was too tall for me to see over, so I jumped up and saw who the fuss was over. We were hoping for Ben Affleck or Matt Damon, but I saw a tall-ish, white-haired guy buying a sandwich at a street vendor. Can you guess who it was?? None other than vice presidential candidate Joe Biden. Neat, huh? We walked around the crowd and stood on a bench and Rhona got a picture of the back of his head. He was surrounded by secret service agents. I bet it makes the news.

I doubt we’ll do anymore celebrity watching because we have work to do, but it was fun to see the potential VP.

I bet the Secret Service was watching you climbing on a bench! Great spot -
