Cruisin Down the Platte

My escape is jumping on my bike and cruising up and down the Platte River Trail. If you like any kind of physical activity, this trail is the place to spend some time. As I ride along on my bike, I am able to see and hear the beautiful Platte River flowing next to me. As I cruise along, there are trees shading parts of the trail and even a few stopping points to get drinks or snacks. The hub, right at 15th and REI, always has a lot of people kicking back in the grassy areas, just enjoying their days. It is a peaceful scene, but at the same time, it is fun and energized.
The possibilities on the Platte are endless. I usually spend my time biking along the Platte, however, I enjoy running the Platte also. As I ride, or run, the trail I am sure to see people whizzing by on their rollerblades, a family out on a nice walk, a mother pushing her child in a stroller, a kayaker carrying his kayak back up to the inlet of the river, or a dog being taken for a walk. There are plenty of things to keep my eyes wandering. Regardless of what brings people out to the trail, I know it is the favorite of many because of the diversity among the trail. The trail is plenty long for a short jog or a long bike ride. It stretches from Downtown Denver to Chatfield State Park in Littleton.
The Platte feels like summer. People hustling about, the sun shining down on the trail, the trees and grass rustling in the wind, the river babbling by, it is perfect. It is my favorite get away, only a mile from my front door.
