This is really huge. Not only size-wise and state-of-the-art-wise, but the implications are enormous.

With a $4.3 billion, 578-acre renovation, Fitzsimons Army Medical Center, now known as The Campus (yeah, we know—kinda Michael-Crichton-esque), is about to become the life sciences center for “global scientific advancement in academics, biotech and bioscience research and clinical care”. Take a moment and wrap your brain around that.

Presently, The Campus houses 227 acres of the University of Colorado Health Services Center and Hospital, and the 160-acre Colorado Bioscience Park. Plus, The Children’s Hospital just opened its doors.

Coming soon: Veteran Affairs will be building a $98 million hospital, to open in 2011.

Nice place to work, but where do you live? There’s a great mix of apartments in this area with the most recent addition being The Square at Fitzsimons. This development is an urban-focused complex with a traditional village center and 487 residential units, shops and boutiques, banks and offices, restaurants and cafés, with more on the horizon.
