...artsy and affordable

Known as the "West Side," Lincoln-La Alma-Auraria is that rare find: a charming neighborhood ridiculously close to the heart of downtown, but still affordable.

In the 1850s, gold seekers came to Denver to find their fortunes. The houses — two-story brick Victorians, one-story stucco houses, duplexes, row houses and brick bungalows — reflect that historic atmosphere.

The whole area is revitalized and overflowing with cafes, art galleries, authentic Mexican bakeries and offices, so you can be sure there’s always something going on, day and night.

The Auraria Campus consists of three colleges: Metro State, Community College of Denver and University of Colorado Denver. Film lovers take note: all film fests that come to Denver can be found at the Starz Film Center, located within the Tivoli Center (the student union of the Auraria Campus).

And for sure, don't miss First Fridays Art Walk, located in the nearby Baker district. The galleries along a six-block section of Santa Fe Drive stay open late the first Friday of the month, and the surrounding businesses (restaurants, bars and bookstores) do their best to keep the crowds happy.
