…high style and higher IQs

About five miles north of Dallas' city center, the two most educated communities in all of Texas stretch side-by-side through peaceful, tree-lined streets. It's not surprising then, that these two independently-governed towns, teeming with housing from apartments to mansions, seem to have the good life down to a science.

University Park, selected as the "#1 Suburb in the Dallas Area" in 2002 and 2004 by D Magazine, is the home of the Plaza Theater, boutiques, bookstores and the entirely scenic and creative Southern Methodist University (SMU—where First Lady Laura Bush is an alum).

Highland Park, literally the most expensive town in the area, per-square-foot, will wow you with mansions along Beverly Drive. America's first shopping center, Highland Park Village, has come a long way (through the Great Depression, in fact), and now offers upscale brands like Jimmy Choo, Anthropologie and more.

Sounds like the Park Cities have something to teach us all.
