Mesquite

Send to a friend

…not your typical suburb

The kids have taken over the airwaves in Mesquite. Sure, they’re being supervised, but it's still an unconventional (and brilliant!) way for the Mesquite Independent School District (MISD) to train high school students in live broadcasting, news and communications. It's just one example of how Mesquite continues to push beyond the limits of your average garden-variety suburb.

We're not saying Mesquite isn't picturesque. In the summer, the area turns so green even Al Gore would be envious; and the rural surroundings and manicured, middle-class homes will keep you feeling serene.

Cheer one of five different high school football home teams at the huge 20,000-seat Memorial Stadium, or take advantage of this area’s unique events and channel your inner cowgirl/boy at the Mesquite Championship Rodeo, held every Friday and Saturday from April through September.

One more thing…public transportation isn't an option here, but you drive, right?
